Welcome!

This blog started as a conversation between Kandace Steadman and me. We both work for museums in Utah. We both have received funding from the Institute of Museums and Library Services to develop projects using digital technology (and I use that term in its broadest sense). We both are learning a lot about how digital technologies and new media can help museums fulfill our mission and serve our community. We are learning a lot everyday.

It struck us that we are not alone. Others throughout the state of Utah are sitting in small offices, home offices, coffee shops, boardrooms, behind computer screens and charting new territory for museums within the digital landscape. None of us have enough resources, time, experience, "bandwidth" to take it all in. It struck us that we should use these tools about which we are learning to build a network of professionals (and I use THAT term in its broadest sense!) to build contacts, share ideas, seek collaborations, and identify new partnerships.

Thus the Utah Museums - Interactive Projects Network was born.

Join us in any way you like:
- Follow this blog and contribute
- Join us in Facebook at "Utah Museums - Interactive Projects Network"
- Send an email to janet@umnh.utah.edu to be added to a list serve.

Through building a network, we have an opportunity to fundamentally change the way that Utah residents and tourists experience our museums. We look forward to getting to know you, to hear what you are working on, and to find new ways to support one another!
